Wilma Scoville Obituary

ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP-Wilma J. Scoville, 90, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday May 24th, 2022, with her family by her side.  Wilma was born on June 28, 1931, the youngest daughter of John and Gladys (Potter) Callander.  She was raised on her parent’s farm located in Rome, Ohio, and graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1949.

On April 26, 1963, Wilma married her best friend and true love, Leonard Scoville.  While raising a loving family, they worked diligently to continue the family business, the Scoville Key Shop.  She and Leonard were blessed to be married for 44 years until he preceded her in death on January 2, 2007.

Wilma had many interests and activities that kept her schedule busy. However, she was a firm believer that family always came first.  Her children were her life.  She was a 4H-Leader for the sewing group and a Girl Scout Leader for many years.  Her love for sewing was the seed that formed the Quilt Club of Ashtabula, making quilts for veterans and various people in need. Wilma proudly served as past president for both the Lake County Button Club and the Ohio State Button Society.  Her love for Leonard fostered her participation and membership in the local Marine Corp League- Ladies Auxiliary.  During their 44-year marriage, both Wilma and Leonard loved to travel with their children and grandchildren.  They took many memorable trips to Camp Bennett in Coudersport, PA, while also enjoying warmer winters in Florida after retirement.  When Wilma became a mother, she could not fathom a greater blessing and title in life until she became a grandmother and later great grandmother.  She quickly took on the title “GG” which opened a whole new world of love and cherished memories.  Wilma adored her family.

She is survived by her loving family; her children: Constance (David) McKay, Karen (Mark) Fratis, Denise Lamson, Lynn (John) Boyle, and Lori (Mark) Pendelton; her 12 grandchildren: Shawn (Kathy) McKay, Melissa (Curt) Sebald, Kelley (Roger) Stahl, Julie (Gary) Dunbar, Jennifer (Jami) Teter, Jeremy (Katie) Lamson, Heather (Rob Hamrick) Lamson, Jessica (Devin) Bolon, Rachael (Cory) Hiegel, Bridgette (Rio Siles) Boyle, Nathan (Bethany) Pendelton, and Erica (Ryan) Jackson; and 19 great-grandchildren with one on the way, One great, great grandson.
