William LeRoy Hurst

William LeRoy Hurst, 67, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2021 at University Hospitals Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. 

William was born on April 23, 1954 in Ashtabula, Ohio the son of LeRoy and Lois Hurst.

William married the love of his life, Debra (Hackathorn) Hurst on March 7, 1981. William was a member of the FFA Alumni, Farm Bureau, former Dorset Township Trustee and Ashtabula County 4-H Volunteer.  He loved participating in tractor pulls especially with his beloved Allis Chalmers.

William was a life long farmer ad loved every minute of it.  He will be remembered as a friend to all who would stop what he was doing to help those in need by putting their needs first.  William spent his life on the farm he grew up on and in the community he was raised in.  Because of his love for this area and agriculture many people were blessed to have his helping hands. His chuckle and smile would make any rainy day shine and let you know everything would be okay.  You knew things would be okay when you heard him say, “We’ll get it figured out, it will be okay” and you knew things would be. He will be greatly missed and we are all lucky we got the privilege to know him.  Rest assured he will be driving those orange tractors planting God’s ground for us!

William is survived by his loving wife, Debra, his beloved children: Lindsey Hurst and Lisa (Chris) Willard, his grandchildren: Alexis Knauff, Connor Willard, Bree Willard and Mathew Hurst; his great grandchildren: Braxton and Yelena; his siblings: Diann Hurst, Jim (Susan) Hurst, Terri (Rachel) Hurst and  David (Tracey) Hurst. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jerome Hurst.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at 2678 State Route 307 E, Jefferson, Ohio.
