William Charles Hudson, 81, passed away on October 6, 2022, at his home in Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio.
He was born on August 9, 1941, in Warren, Ohio, the son of William H. and Frances R. (King) Hudson.
Bill graduated in 1959 from Holmes-Liberty High School in Bucyrus, Ohio. He went on to attend Ashland College where he graduated in 1964 with a bachelor’s degree in Education. Bill played basketball in high school and was inducted into the Holmes-Liberty Athletic Hall of Fame.
On September 10, 1977, Bill married the love of his life, Judith E. (Novak) Hudson, they shared forty-one years of wonderful marriage together before her passing in 2018.
Bill was an entrepreneur, he owned and operated, Billy Hudson Entertainment, Hudson Specialty Lawn Care and Hudson Specialty Towing. Bill enjoyed decades as an entertainer playing organ, singing and bringing crowds to laughter with kitschy comedy. Bill started playing piano in 1960-61 on weekends in Crestline, Ohio to help pay for college, and then took his act to “38 states and a million miles.” One of his favorite venues was Geneva-on-the-lake’s DiFabio’s Restaurant, where he forged a lifelong friendship with Lou and Gloria DiFabio, and their family.
He was a dedicated member of the United Church of Geneva where he volunteered his talents playing the piano and singing with his dear friend, Cheryl Harting at the annual Christmas show and other church fundraisers. Bill enjoyed golfing and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children: Heather M. Burton (Paul Lambert) and Christine E. (Karen Carson) Spinelli; his grandchildren: Kayla M. Cevera, Breanna M. Burton and Savannah E. Burton; his siblings: James (Marcia) Hudson, Elizabeth Daniel and Bart (Cookie) Hudson; his great-grandchildren: Liam T. Cevera, Lillien E. Cevera and Landon E. Loving; nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judith E. (Novak) Hudson and his son, William “Billy” Hudson.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 11:00a-1:00p with a funeral service to immediately follow at 1:00p at the Geneva home of Fleming and Billman Funeral Directors, 323 South Broadway in Geneva, Ohio. Burial will take place following the funeral service at Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva, Ohio.
