Tonya G. Helfer, age 45, of Sheffield Twp., died Friday evening at her son’s home in Williamsfield Twp. She had been battling cancer.
She was born June 23, 1975 in Ashtabula, the youngest child of Everett & Betty (Vines) Helfer and has lived in this area all of her life. Tonya was a 1993 graduate of Jefferson Area High School. Tonya has worked 20 years as the deli manager first for Thornes Grocery Store and then Sander’s Market.
She was active in the Sheffield Volunteer Fire Dept. & Rescue, enjoyed camping and motocross races and loved her Pug, “Cherokee”.
She is survived by three children, Michelin (Michelle Myers) Pauley of Kinsman, Kimberly Mull & David Mull, both of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Payton, Lane, Remmington, Cooper & Lillyanna; her father, Everett Helfer of Sheffield Twp; two sisters, Roberta (Claude) Kobernik of Sheffield Twp. & Christina Cusano of Jefferson and a brother, John (Darla) Helfer of Sheffield Twp.
She was preceded in death by a son, James in infancy and her mother, Betty Helfer.
A drive by Celebration of Life will be held Sunday from 12:30-3:00PM at the Sheffield Volunteer Fire Dept., 3636 Sheffield-Monroe Rd., Kingsville, OH 44048.
