Thomas R. Maynard, 69, passed away peacefully at his home on April 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on July 11, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Dolphus and Mabel (Farmer) Maynard.
Tom spent most of his life working in the construction trades, where he was known for his skill in drywall and home building. He took great pride in working with his hands and building a life for those he loved. Above all, Tom was a devoted family man. He shared 25 loving years of marriage with his wife, Gayle M. (Wilhelm) Maynard, and found his greatest joy in time spent with his children, grandchildren, and extended family. Whether gathered at home or sharing stories, his love for them was constant and unwavering. Tom also had a deep passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who found peace and purpose in nature. Many of his happiest moments were spent in the woods or by the water, often alongside family, passing down traditions, stories, and a respect for the outdoors that will live on through them.
He will be dearly missed by his loving family: his wife, Gayle; his children, Thomas (Kelly) Maynard, Jason Maynard, Meagan (Andrew) Maynard, and Jessica (James) Sherman; his grandchildren, Clayton (Barb), Nate, Madison, Jayden, Silas, Jaxon, Sawyer, Elizabeth, Kayce, Blaze, Marley, Paisley, Nova, Willow, and Jarred; his great-granddaughter, Mallory, with another on the way; his brothers, Dolphus Maynard, Roger (Elona) Maynard, and Les (Annette) Bolen; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Tiffany, in infancy.
In honoring his wishes, no public services will be held. He will be laid to rest at Cherry Valley Cemetery.
