Teresa Ann Essig

Teresa Ann Essig, 62, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away on October 2, 2023.

She was born on May 1, 1961, in Euclid, Ohio, the daughter of Peter and Lynda Stehura.

After graduating from Pymatuning Valley High School, Teresa served in the United States Army from 1979 to 1982. She proudly contributed to her country’s defense during her military service.

Throughout her life, Teresa pursued a diverse career path.  She worked as a bartender, head chef and caterer, demonstrating her passion for culinary arts and hospitality.

Teresa had a lively spirit and was never afraid to embrace new experiences. She lived in various places including Italy, California, Alaska, Florida, North Carolina and Ohio, always seeking adventure and never allowing fear to hold back.

Teresa had a vibrant personality and a zest for life.  She loved bright colors, poetry, heavy metal music, writing, cooking and Sunday fundays. Teresa was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and cherished spending time with her animal companions. Her outgoing nature and genuine authenticity made her a magnet for friends wherever she went.  She enjoyed engaging in conversations and had a knack for attracting the best people in her life.

Teresa is survived by her loving mother, Lynda Stehura; her father, Peter Stehura; her siblings: Mark (Susie) Mampel, Chrystal (Steve) Gullett, Sarah (Daniel) Welser, Matthew Cole and Ben (Michelle) Stehura; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Sarah Lyon.

Teresa Ann Essig will be remembered for her fearlessness, her love of life, and her ability to connect with others.  Her adventurous spirit and genuine nature touched the lives of many.  She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Please join us in celebrating Teresa’s life at a memorial service to be held on Sunday, October 8th, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 133 S. Spruce Street in Jefferson, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League.
