Susan Joyce

Susan Joyce, 70, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024 at her home in South Jefferson, Ohio.

She was born on December 29, 1953, in Mt. Pleasant, PA, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah “Sis” (Stout) Quinn.

On August 25, 1984, Susan married Edward R. Joyce; they were just shy of celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary.

Susan was a Certified Nursing Assistant at the William Penn Nursing Center where she dedicated many years of service and caring for others.

She was a member of the Ashtabula Antique Engine Club and the Pymatuning Sportsman Club. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, tending to her flowers and jumping on her zero-turn mower to cut the grass. She loved animals, especially her cats and her wiener dog, Oscar. She also loved spending time at Lake Shore Park and playing sudoku puzzles.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Edward; her loving children: Nancy (Jim) Scott, Rob Joyce, Tammy (Allen) Purifoy, Mark Joyce and Steven (Kelly) Macheska; her grandchildren: Danielle, Jennifer and Steven; her brother, William (Sherry) Quinn and her sister-in-law and dear friend, Deb Quinn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Eric Joyce and her brother, Thomas “Bud” Quinn.

Visitation for family and close friends will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 1:00p-1:30p with a funeral service to follow at 1:30p at Fleming and Billman Funeral Home, 49 West Jefferson Street in her hometown of Jefferson, Ohio.  A luncheon gathering to honor and celebrate Susan's life will be held on Monday May 27, 2024, at 12:00p at the Smithton Fire Hall in Smithton, PA.
