Shirley M. Furman, age 89, died Wednesday evening at her residence in Jefferson.
She was born September 30, 1930 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Clarence & Mildred (Krupka) Chamberlain and has lived the majority of her life in Ashtabula County. Shirley was married to Harry D. Furman on August 6, 1950 in Kingsville Twp.
She was employed for Ward Products in 1948, making antennas, then worked at Gateway Transportation before owning and operating A & F Upholstery for 20 years.
Shirley’s greatest enjoyment was being with her family. She was involved with Scouting when her children were growing up, she enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting and going to thrift stores. Shirley served as secretary for the Heritage Square Condominium Association for many years.
Survivors include six children, Pamela A. Annick of Ashtabula, Buzz (Gale) Furman of Harpersfield Twp., Sheila (Steve) Felde of Jefferson, Shawn Furman of Pierpont Twp., Trishia (Rick Garret) Furman of Columbus & Kevin Furman of Jefferson; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry D. Furman in 1990; a brother, Richard Chamberlain and a sister, Vivian Chamberlain.
Shirley’s request was to be cremated with her ashes scattered as directed. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, OH 44004.
