Shelby J. Smith, age 78 of Ashtabula, died Sunday at her residence following complications with the Covid vaccine.
She was born November 26, 1942 in Radford, VA, the daughter of Silvester & Claudia (Clark) Dunbar, living most of her life in this area before moving to West Virginia two years ago and returned in May of this year.
Shelby was a realtor/broker, working with Harbor Realty, Century 21 and Miller Realty, retiring in 1996. She formerly worked at Anton’s (now Chop’s) in Geneva. Her interests include fishing, gardening and quilting. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially the love of her life for 30 years, the late Terrance James Smith.
Survivors include four children; Angel L. Smith of Jefferson, Candy A. Dufala of Perry Twp., Sherry L. Smith of Ashtabula & James H. Smith in West Virginia, 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and six siblings; Billy Dunbar, Virginia (Ron) Weikle, Bobby (Rose) Dunbar, Susie (Frank) Dunbar, Mark (Jen) Dunbar & Mike Dunbar, all in West Virginia. Besides her parents, she was preceded by her sister, Brenda Canterbary.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:00 noon at the Geneva Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva. Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery.
