Ruth Irene Gran
JEFFERSON – Ruth Irene Gran, 90, passed peacefully on Monday, November 15, 2021, at the Jefferson Healthcare Center.
Ruth was born in Saybrook Township on February 26, 1931, the daughter of James and Cora (Chapin) Woodworth.
She worked many years for True Temper and was a longtime member of the Jefferson First Baptist Church.
On October 10, 1952, Ruth married Edward L. Gran, Jr. and together they were blessed with 54 years of marriage until he passed away May 3, 2007.
Ruth enjoyed many things in life, like playing Bingo and cards, gardening, and fishing and for 37 years she enjoyed her family trips to Canada. She loved her sons with all her heart, but for Ruth, when she became a grandmother to two granddaughters it gave her life a whole new meaning.
She is survived by her loving family: her son Timothy and daughter-in-law Pamela Gran; her granddaughters: Wendy (Chris) Balcomb and Rebecca Fisher; her great-grandson Dax; her siblings: Royal Woodworth, Paul Woodworth, Barbara Lasher, and Ruby Simpson; as well as many nieces and nephews, and her adorable, loving and loyal dog Molly.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward; her son David; her great-grandson Gage; her brothers: James, Clifford, Howard, Fred, John, Lawrence, and Robert; and her sisters: Betty Harshbarger and Martha in infancy.
Services for Ruth will be held on Saturday November 20, 2021, at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 49 W. Jefferson Street, Jefferson; Calling hours from 12:00-1:00 and the funeral starting at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
