Ronald Kenneth Branch, 87, of Columbus, Ohio, died April 25, 2023. He was born June 17, 1935, in Kingsville, Ohio, to Homer and F. Virginia McNutt Branch.
After graduating as valedictorian from Kingsville High School in 1953, he attended Antioch College, graduating with an A.B. in government in 1958. He studied history as a graduate student at Columbia University.
He spent most of his career as a copy editor at the Current Digest of the Soviet (later Post-Soviet) Press, retiring in 1997.
Although reserved with strangers, he was possessed of a wry sense of humor and a vast, insightful knowledge of topics that interested him, including opera, sports, politics, history, genealogy, and literature. He was fond of animals, especially cats and goats.
He is survived by his wife Susan Horowitz Branch, daughter Jessica Branch, son Glenn Branch and daughter-in-law Sujatha Jagadeesh Branch, grandson Vikram Branch, and brother Richard Branch and his family.
His memorial service will take place at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 30, at Fleming & Billman Funeral Home, Ashtabula, Ohio. No flowers, please. He supported many causes, including civil liberties, animal and wildlife protection, and cancer research, among others, and contributions in his memory to an appropriate organization of your choice are appreciated.
