Robert Earl Williams

Robert Earl Williams, 89, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023, in Denton, Texas with his family by his side. 

He was born on April 27, 1933, in Shubuta, Mississippi, the son of Ed and Mary (Goodman) Williams.

Robert graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1951.  He enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War.

He worked as a maintenance welder for Union Carbide (Elkem) for over 30 years prior to his retirement.

Robert was married to Connie Williams for more than thirty years before her passing in 2016.

Robert was a past member of the Board of Directors for the Lakeview Credit Union; his faith has always been an important part of his life and he was a member of the People’s Baptist Church and then at the First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and giving back to his community in any way possible.  He was a proud and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and son.

He is survived by his loving children: Janet (James) Valentine, Marvin (Jean) Williams and Harold (Lawanda) Williams and his grandchildren: Kristopher Robert Williams, Misty (Xavier) Haggerty, Shawn Proctor and Bruce (Krista) Rice, and Kenneth Lamar Williams, Jr.;  a host of great-grandchildren; his step son Maynard (Elisa) Manila; and his step-grandchildren Lazette (R.J.) Borja and Sherwin Manila.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Connie in 2016, his son, Kenneth Williams in 2021, and his sister, Mary King who passed away March 27, 2023; and his first wife and mother of his children Alice Jean Pratt in 2011.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 10:00am-11:30am with funeral services starting at 11:30 at People’s Baptist Church, 3837 West Avenue in Ashtabula.  Military honors will be held at the church following the services and Entombment will immediately follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
