Robert Boyd Curtis-Smallwood 69, passed away peacefully Saturday September 25, 2021 at
home surrounded by family. He had been battling cancer and heart failure the last two years. He
was born June 19, 1952 in Ashtabula to Delbert & Florence Curtis (nee. Wimer.)
He moved to Arizona with his adoptive parents Raymond & Ethel Smallwood where he
remained for fifity years. He raised his five children in Mesa, Arizona. He moved back to Ohio
October 3, 2015 to be with his childhood friend and fiancee Glenna Holsinger-Thiel. Bob
absolutely loved the Beatles and enjoyed collecting Beatles memorabilia. He loved classic rock
and oldies. He often could be found listening/singing to music. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
His favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt Sr, Kyle and Kurt Bush. He enjoyed sports as well and
rooted for the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers. Bob loved spending time at the beach
looking for beach glass and drift wood. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy, The Rifleman, Family
Guy and The Simpsons. He especially loved spending time with family, friends and his pets. He
was very intelligent, caring, helpful and had a wonderful sense of humor. His presence will be
greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and he gave the best hugs.
He is survived by his fiancée Glenna Holsinger-Thiel. His five children Michelle Bishop (Tony),
Christopher Smallwood, Leslie Towne (Eric), Mark Smallwood (Angelina) of Arizona and
Jennifer Smallwood of Conneaut, OH. Two step children Mike Thiel (Cassie) and Amanda
Schultz (Christian) Eleven siblings Jeanee Rockwell (Jim), Norman Curtis, Lois Martin (Tom),
Roselee Dudas (Frank), Lottie Myers (Matthew), Sharren Peterson (Larry Sr), Delbert Curtis Jr
(Tammy), Roger Curtis (Hanna), Richard Curtis (Jennifer), Reginald Curtis (Gina), Frank Curtis,
two step sisters Sherri and Michelle Smith and a step brother Tim Smith. Grandchildren
Lindsey, Mikey and Alyssa Bishop, Natalie and Kimberly Smallwood, Ethan and Melanie Towne,
Zachary Smallwood, Anthony Cash, Chloe and Mila Smallwood. One great granddaughter
Neliyah June. As well as multiple nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, two children Robert Jr and Beth Ann Smallwood,
sister Doris Kramer and sister-in-law Pam Curtis.
A memorial service will be held at Lake Shore Park at 2pm on Saturday October 2, 2021.
