Ricky Gene Goats, 68, of Jefferson OH entered into God's kingdom on March 7, 2024. He was born September 28, 1955 to the late Shirley (Gillenwater) and Bobby Gene Goats. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Georgia Ann Woodrum.
Rick is survived by his sisters Cindy Kelley (Jim), Cheryl Hennessey (Rich) and brother Darrin Goats (Jamie). Left to cherish his memory is his bride of 35 years, Margaret (Maggie), as well as his children, Michella Shelton, Elizabeth (Lilbit) McMannes (Cooper), Bobby Gene Goats, Mary Margaret Mathis (Carlton), Mason Goats and grandchildren; Oliver Goats, Winifred and Delaney McMannes, Lucy Goats (mother Kimberly Boyd) and Finn Mathis, as well as countless friends and family.
Rick was a mechanic by trade and gifted in using his hands...to fix, to build, to cast, to hold, to carry or to praise. Rick loved fishing, working on models, watching old movies, gardening, spending time with family and studying the Bible.
In 2021, just months after retiring, Rick was diagnosed with cancer. He chose to live every day without complaint and with great intention. After 2 1/2 years his body succumbed to all it had endured. His faith and love for family and friends he left behind.
Our family wishes to offer our heartfelt thanks to every single person who helped Rick walk this journey...especially Dr. Osei-Tutu Owusu and nurse Dawn Pilarcyzk as well as all the amazing friends made at the Seidman Center at UH Geauga Hospital. You mattered more than you know!
Calling hours will be held Monday March 11th from 12:00pm-2:00pm with a funeral service to follow at Fleming Billman Funeral Home in Jefferson Ohio.
Rick started each day declaring "It's gonna be a great day". Challenge accepted!
A goal without a plan is just a wish!
