Richard Waddle Obituary

Richard E. Waddle, 90, passed away on November 10, 2021, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ashtabula, Ohio.
He was born on September 20, 1931, in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of Wm. Miller and Helen (Watson) Waddle.
Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean War and then in the National Guard for thirty-five years; he was a mechanic in the 107th Armory Division where he reached the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his retirement from the military he began his career with Kister Construction where he worked up until last month. He was known for how hard working he was and was extremely proud of the fact he celebrated his 90th birthday and was still working one day a week for Kister's.
Richard married the love of his life, Mary Ann Ely on September 20, 1958; recently they celebrated sixty-three wonderful years of marriage together. Richard enjoyed going to daily breakfast with his friends at The Lunch Box and using his iPad whenever possible. He also enjoyed spending time at the Kister Marina and attending his grandson's events. He was a proud and loving husband, dad and "pops" who worked hard to provide for his family, which was the most important thing in his life.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Mary Ann Waddle; his son, Todd (Cindy) Waddle; his grandsons: Ethan and Colin; his brother, Bill Waddle Jr., his brother-in-law James (Phyllis) Ely; and his sisters-in-law: Sr. Mildred Ely, HM and Sr. Barbara Noble, HM.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Nellie Ely-Green.
In honor of his wishes a private burial will take place on Friday in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Lighthouse Harvest Foundation of Ashtabula. Online obituary and a place to leave the family a condolence can be found at www.fleming-billman.com.
