Richard H. Trask

Richard H. Trask, age 72, of St. Rt. 46 N., passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center after fighting cancer for 4 years.  He came into this world April, 10, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio, the foster son of Norman and Mary Louise Trask.

In his teens he won many trophies showing his horse “Flicka”.  He worked at True Temper in Geneva, until it closed, then odd jobs and then retiring from Ashta Chemicals in 2000.  He enjoyed working in his flower beds, yard work, hunting, fishing and camping at Pymatuning Lake.  His greatest passion was helping other veterans.  He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp form 1967-1971 and received a Purple Heart and a Good Conduct Medal.  He belonged to the VFW, DAV, VVA Chapter OHO 231, Jefferson Conservation Club, Marine Corps League and Military Order of the Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen G. Trask; son, Richard N. Trask; brother, Edward (Joanne) Wulff; sisters, Terry Poterfield, Phyllis (Roy) Garrard; nephew, Dennis (Ann) Ruck and many more nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his foster parents; brother, Theodore Wulff; foster sister, Betty Ruck; nephew, Daniel Ruck.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11:00 A. M. at the helicopter on Rt. 167 (across from Oakdale Cemetery) Jefferson, with Rev. Dr. Mick Gilliam officiating.  American Legion Post #103 will be conducting military honors.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Richard’s honor to Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter OHO 231, P. O. Box 2947, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 or ACMC, Cancer & Infusion Center, 2412 Lake Ave, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W.
