Richard James Slocum, Sr. was born in (Geneva, Ohio on July 10, 1933 to William Gaylord Slocum and Dortha I Gross . He was the oldest of seven children. He passed away on April 11, 2020, a resident of New Port Richey, Florida.
He was a member of the plumbers local 55 of Cleveland, Ohio and had worked at the Bow Socket in Ashtabula and for Rayon in Painesville, Ohio.
He met his wife at his church where she was the organist.
He enjoyed spending time with his brother, Ron. He also enjoyed relaxing near the water and fishing,
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, June Gambria, of Holiday, Florida, a brother, John Slocum, of Ida Ville, Indiana, his step-mother, Sudie Standridge Slocum, of Geneva, Ohio, and his daughter, Diana L. Slocum, of Clearwater, Florida.
Surviving siblings are brothers Ronald G. Slocum of Geneva, Ohio, William L. Slocum of Newark, Ohio, and sisters Patricia M. Swanson of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Sandra D. Sekely of Newport Beach, California.
His survived by sons James R. Slocum of Spring Hill, Florida, Stephen J. Slocum of New Port Richey, Florida, and Richard J. Slocum, Jr. of Ashtabula, Ohio.
Survivors include (8 ) grandchildren and ( 13 ) great-grandchildren. (3) great great- grandchildren
He was a ordained minister in the 70s at The reorganized church of Jesus Christ of the ladder day saints 2244 harbor Ave Ashtabula Ohio
A graveside service will be Tuesday (September 8th) at 10:00 am at Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva, Ohio
