Richard Rogers Obituary

Richard Lee Rogers, 75, passed away on April 30, 2023, at his home in Kingsville, Ohio.

He was born on July 9, 1947, in Salem, Ohio, the son of Owen and Mary (Angelmyer) Rogers.

Richard graduated from Conneaut High School in 1965. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country.

He was the store Manager for A&P Grocery Store for fourteen years. Richard owned and operated Rogers Produce in Conneaut, Ohio for ten years.  From January 1991 to the present, he owned and operated Kardohely’s Restaurant in Ashtabula.

On January 19, 1994, he married Joanne Kay Scalise, they shared twenty-nine wonderful years of marriage together.

Richard obtained his pilot license in 1992. He played the guitar and loved all types of music. He loved horses, he enjoyed horse racing, especially harness racing and watching westerns.  He also enjoyed golfing and the martial arts where he earned a black belt. He was a dedicated fan of all Cleveland’s sports teams.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Rogers, his beloved children, Andrew and Nikki Rogers; his step-children, Nikki (Adam) Pontius and Kari McKinley (Chad Holden); his sister, Julie (Joe) Lowe; his sister-in-law, Peggy Rogers; his grandchildren: Jaime (Bruce) Cox, Zachary Rogers, Kali (Skylar) VanRooy, Sydney (Dalton) Brockway,  Madison (Justin) Herren, Luke, Mila, Lillian, Madilyn and Gracelyn; his great-grandchildren: Weston, Brooks, Colton and one on the way and his long time friend, Phil Anderson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Larry and his twin Donald Rogers.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 1:00p-3:00p with a funeral service to follow at 3:00p at Fleming and Billman Funeral Home, 526 West Prospect Street in Ashtabula, Ohio.
