ASHTABULA [emdash] Richard Hernandez, Sr., 54, of Ashtabula died Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Hillcrest Hospital, due to complications from Covid-19 He was born in Ashtabula on February 3, 1967 the son of Octavio and Aida (Santiago) Hernandez. He worked at Zehrco-Giancola Composites Inc. as a supervisor. Richard was a loyal and avid Steelers Fan. Richard was the best handyman you could ask for and could fix anything. He was the most loyal friend a person could ask for and a proud and loving son, companion, pops, brother and "Welo". He was a past member of Ashtabula Eagles. He is an active member of the Army/Navy Union. He is survived by his companion Kathy Rich, three children Richard (Sarah) Hernandez JR, Anthony Hernandez and daughter Marissa (Chris Osorio) Hernandez. Grandchildren Natalie and Julion Hernandez and Carter Osorio. Sisters Elaine (Jose Nieves) Nelson, Luz (Bobby Gray) Ramos, Ida Marie (Steve) Burgess, Brothers Octavio (Roxanne Casteel) Hernandez JR. Heriberto "Tito" (Sherry) Hernandez. Kara M. Norman who he loved like his own daughter. William Rivera, Aida's companion who he loved like a dad; many nieces and nephews, cousins and some of the best friends a man could ever ask for; and his "Grand Pups" Ivan and Apollo, and this faithful loving companion and best friend Vinnie the cat. He is preceded in death by his parents. Services will be held Friday September 10, 2021.at 11:00 am. At Fleming & Billman Funeral Home 526 West Prospect Road Ashtabula, Ohio.
