Richard Kelly Cole

Richard Kelly Cole, 61, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by the love of his children.

Born on February 25, 1965, in Warren, Ohio, Richard was the son of Charles and Lucille (Logan) Cole.

He was a member of the 1984 graduating class Pymatuning Valley high school.

On May 19, 2001, he married Claudia Marie Finch, his devoted wife and partner of 23 years. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, and mutual commitment. Richard’s heart was forever changed by her passing on May 16, 2024, but his devotion to their family never wavered.

A man who believed deeply in the value of hard work, Richard spent his life farming and working in the construction trades. He took great pride in providing for his family and found purpose in ensuring their comfort and happiness. No task was ever too small or too hard if it meant supporting those he loved.

Richard’s greatest joy came from his children. He spoke often of how proud he was of the young men and women they had become, and he found peace in watching them grow, succeed, and build lives of their own. His love for them was evident in everything he did.

Guided by his strong Christian faith, Richard lived according to the Golden Rule—treating others with fairness, honesty, and respect. He was a man of integrity who built not only strong homes but also strong relationships through kindness and hard work.

In his free time, Richard enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He also had a passion for carpentry, woodworking, and metalworking—skills that reflected both his creativity and determination.

He is survived by his loving children: Samuel Thurston, Joshua (Katie) Thurston, Alan (Cassandra) Ball, Matthew (Darlene) Thurston, Benjamin Thurston, Susanna Thurston, and Grace Cole; five grandchildren; and his siblings: Charles Cole, Kenneth Cole, Victor Cole, Margaret Cole, and Patricia Whyte

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Claudia, his brother Robert Cole, and his very dear best friend Michael Gray.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at The Red Shed Building at C’s Corner Country BBQ, 7517 Pymatuning Lake Road, Williamsfield, Ohio 44093.

Richard will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his honest day’s work, and the deep pride he took in those he loved most.
