R. Scott Becker
DORSET- Scott Becker, 68, passed away on March 5, 2022, at Tri-Pointe Medical Center following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Ashtabula on May 12, 1953, the son of Robert and Maxine (Giddings) Becker.
Scott graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971. On October 15, 1976, Scott married Rose Spencer, his loving bride of the past 45 years. Scott was always a hard worker, providing for his family was always his main priority. He was an over the road truck driver for Manfredi Trucking Company for almost 30 years, logging in well over 3,000,000 miles. After his retirement in 2013 he followed his passion of gardening and he and Rose started S & R Gardens. The plants and flowers they sold their customers always had to be perfect and he took great pride in his work. He was also a member of the Dorset Volunteer Fire Department. He loved the outdoors and working keeping his own lawn and flower beds perfect. Scott loved his wife and children very much, but when he became a “Papa” his grandkids absolutely stole his heart. He will always be remembered as hardworking, kindhearted, proud and loving family man.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife Rose; his children: James “Jimbo” (Tina) Becker, Richard Becker, Aaron (Jennifer) Becker and Jill (Jim) Laseke; his grandchildren: Brennen, Abby, Madeline, Hailey, Lindsey, Brandon, Justin, Hannah, and Olivia; his great granddaughter Lilah; his brothers: David Becker and Greg (Julie) Becker; his sister, Julie Becker; and his always loyal and affectionate dog Matilda.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 49 W. Jefferson Street, Jefferson; calling hours will be held from 11:00-1:00 and the funeral service will begin at 1:00. Burial will follow in Dorset Cemetery.
