Life and Legacy Remembered
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Phillip D. Bish Jr. on July 29, 2025, at the age of 69. Phil leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Barbara Bish; stepson Michael Loomis; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Loomis; and grand-daughters Kayla Loomis and Amilia Loomis. He leaves a legacy of unapologetic witnessing for Christ, leadership, faithfulness, generosity, and unwavering love. While words cannot fully capture our grief or the impact Phil had on so many, we celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the joy they brought to all who knew him.
Phil was the only child of Phillip Bish Sr. and Lorna Bish. His childhood was filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories alongside his cousins Jack and Joseph Warick. Raised in a home rooted in compassion and respect, Phil embraced the importance of family, hard work, and caring for others from an early age.
Phil graduated from Edgewood Senior High School and continued his education at Kent State University earning two degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management. Throughout his career in the manufacturing field, he was admired for his leadership, dedication, integrity, and warm spirit. Known for his work ethic and willingness to help, he inspired colleagues and mentored many, always leading by example.
Beyond professional accomplishments, Phil was a devoted husband, parent, grandparent, and friend. During his late teens and early twenties, he braved motorcycling, snowmobiling, and drag-racing his ’73 Hemi Cuda. He enjoyed collecting antiques, traveling/vacationing—especially on the beach, being involved in his church—especially singing in the choir, but most of all, spending time with his family—including being a devoted father-figure to Dawn (Hoplight) Rife and Amanda (Hoplight) Thompson and “adopted” grandparent to their children.
Phil’s life was a testament for Christ and the enduring impact one person can have on countless others. We honor his memory and strive to continue his legacy of kindness and generosity. While our hearts mourn, we are grateful for the time we shared and the memories that will forever keep Phil alive in our hearts.
Services will be held at Eagleville Bible Church 1981 OH-45, Rock Creek, on Monday, August 4, 2025, visitation from 11:00am to 12:00pm with funeral service at 12:00pm. Luncheon to follow. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
