Norman Gilbert Hamski, age 89, passed away peacefully in his home on October 30, 2024, with his loving wife of 70 years by his side. He was the beloved son of Frank and Josephine (Skiba) Hamski. Norman was a cherished member of our family and a respected friend who touched many lives with his kindness, wisdom, and humor.
Born on May 18, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, Norman was known for his remarkable ability to connect with others. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, sharing stories that left a lasting impression. His gift for conversation made him a trusted sales manager at Sears, where he led with integrity and natural talent. Beyond his career, he brought his passion for people and family into a cherished family business: Hamski’s Polish Food Stand. The stand was a labor of love, where he, his wife, children, and grandchildren shared the family’s recipes and created lasting memories.
In his personal life, Norm was the cornerstone of our family. He taught us the values of family loyalty, integrity, and compassion—values that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His family will forever hold his memory close.
Norm is survived by his loving spouse, Barbara (Kay) Hamski; his sons, Richard Hamski (Karen), Ronald Hamski, and Robert Hamski (Stefanie); his son-in-law, Neal Moscato and his grandchildren: Brittany, Caitlin, and Sarie Moscato, Brenna Ruff, Kaly Hamski, Natalie, Nicole, and Michael Hamski, Ashley Johnson, Samantha Kaufman, Christine Hamski, and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Hamski, and his daughter, Cindy Moscato.
A service to celebrate Norman’s life will be held on Saturday November 9, 2024, at the Fleming-Billman Funeral Home 49 W. Jefferson St.
Jefferson, Ohio, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
