Nettie L. Weidig, 94, passed away August 15 at Cleveland Clinic, following a brief illness. She was born December 10, 1925 in Cleveland to John and Nettie (Pietschmann) Appleby.
Nettie attended Fenn College (now Cleveland State University) where she met her husband, James Weidig. After having two children the family moved to Ashtabula in 1953. They became members of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where she was very active throughout her life. She was a Sunday school teacher; member of the Vestry; active with the Episcopal Church Women and was a ready volunteer whenever needed. Her most recent church activity was meeting on Tuesday afternoons with the Knitting Group. Nettie was the bookkeeper for the family business, Weidig’s Edgewood Sohio. She served on the Board of Directors of The YMCA in the 1960’s, and she was always involved with her children’s school and church activities.
Nettie is survived by her son John (Paula) of Jacksonville, NC and daughter Marcia (Andrew) of Bratenahl, OH; grandchildren Allison (Mile) Begovic, Elizabeth (Timothy) Immarino, and Joseph (Anneli) Tasker; great-grandson James Immarino; and step-grandson Benjamin Clapp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James L. Weidig, and sister Margaret Appleby.
A memorial service will be held Friday (August 21st) at 11:00 am at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 4901 Main Ave. Ashtabula with Rev. Peter Nielsen III officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am to the time of service on Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Nettie’s name can be made to the St Peter’s Episcopal Church Living Memorial Fund or to the Ashtabula Lion’s Club. Envelopes will be available at the church
