Michael G. Hines, Sr., age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the A.C.M.C ER.
Born January 11, 1963, in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was the son of Raymond and Mary Ann (Harakal) Hines.
Mike was a master of many construction trades and a gifted, talented mechanic—there was hardly anything he couldn’t fix. But above all his skills and interests, nothing compared to his devotion to his family. On March 1, 1985, he married his one true love, Wendy Kay Cruikshank, beginning a beautiful 41-year journey marked by loyalty, laughter, and love.
A devoted husband, father, and “Papa,” Mike believed that being a parent was life’s greatest blessing. When grandchildren came into his world, his heart grew even fuller—he absolutely adored every moment spent with them. His family was the center of his world; they were his pride, his joy, and the reason behind every smile.
Mike was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, whether sharing stories around a campfire, lending a helping hand with a home project, or simply enjoying the outdoors together. He found peace in nature—fishing, hunting, camping, and riding his Harley down open roads—and also took joy in crafting with his hands, from woodworking to leatherwork. Earlier in life, he trained hunting dogs and always had a soft spot for his loyal companions, especially his dogs Coco and Molly.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Wendy; his mother, Mary Ann; his children, Michael Hines, Bobbie Jo (Elliott) Boncimino, and Joseph (Hannah Fowler) Hines; his beloved grandchildren: Faith, Savanah, Serenity, Hunter, Aubree, and Elinor; six great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Brenda (Randy) Carr, Daniel (Karen) Hines, Penny (Andrew) Westfall, and James (Julie) Hines.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond, and his precious great-granddaughter, Olivia Berg.
Services will be Saturday, April 11, 2026, Calling hours at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 49 West Jefferson St., Jefferson, OH. from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Dorset Cemetery at 1:30.
Mike’s legacy is one of unwavering love, hands that built and fixed, and a heart that embraced family above all else.
