Michael Driscoll, 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away Wednesday morning on his 43rd wedding anniversary.
Born in Cleveland in 1941 to John & Agnes (Krause) Driscoll, Michael attended Parma High School before joining US Navy in 1958, where he served on the destroyers USS Hanson, USS Leonard F. Mason, and USS Fletcher during his nine years of service.
Michael joined Pipefitters Local #120, where he worked until his retirement in 2003.
In 1978, he wed his wife Jeri (Hanson) and the couple settled in Ashtabula, where they operated a small farm for many years. He was a proud Democrat and a dedicated volunteer election worker.
A Vietnam veteran, Mike was an active member of VFW Post #943 and was elected as Quartermaster. He could often be found spending time in service of his fellow veterans.
Mike was an avid reader who could finish a book in a day and never missed an episode of Jeopardy. He loved antique cars and could be seen regularly at local car shows with his award-winning 1936 Ford pickup that he restored himself. He spent many adventurous years of retirement camping in national parks and other points of interest and natural beauty around the United States with his wife in their travel trailer.
Mike's most recent and greatest joy was spending time with his grandson, Anderson Michael. His playful sense of humor and generosity of spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Jeri (Hanson); a son, Kevin (Rebecca) Driscoll; a daughter, Megan (Travis) Driscoll; a sister, Sheila Goggin; two brothers, Kevin (Donna) Driscoll and John (Betty) Driscoll; one grandson, Anderson Michael Driscoll; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces & - nephews.
