Michael A. Bryson, Sr., 69, passed away on July 17, 2026, following a long illness.
Born January 7, 1957, he was the son of Merle and Lenora (Collins) Bryson. He was a member of Cardinal High School's Class of 1976 and went on to spend the majority of his life as a union carpenter—a trade he took immense pride in. Mike was a true craftsman, known for his exceptional skill, attention to detail, and relentless work ethic. Whether on the job or in his woodshop, he approached every project with precision and a drive for perfection, creating lasting work that reflected both his talent and his character.
He was also a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he found great satisfaction in building and creating for those he cared about. His hands were rarely still, and his work was often a gift to others—a reflection of his generous spirit.
Above all else, Mike’s greatest pride and purpose in life was his family. He was a devoted father and a proud grandfather who loved his children and grandchildren deeply. Everything he built, both in his career and in life, was rooted in providing for and supporting them.
He is survived by his loving family: his daughters, Serena Dunfee and Crystal (Brian) Smith; his sons, Michael Bryson, Jr. and Shane (Brittaney) Bryson; his nine grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, his brother, Merle (Marcia) Bryson; his sister, Penny Bryson-Amato; and his former wife and dear friend, Sandra Bryson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Chester “Rick” Sulek.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 49 West Jefferson St., Jefferson, OH. Calling hours will be from 2:00–4:00 PM, with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 PM.
He will be laid to rest on Monday at Oakdale Cemetery in a private family service.
