Michael H. Brace

Michael Brace, age 63, peacefully passed away on February 13, 2025, at UH Geauga Hospital.

He was born on January 25, 1962, in Springfield, Ohio, to Dr. Kenneth and Patricia (Bowers) Brace. He was raised in Saybrook and graduated from Harbor High School in 1980. Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University and went on to have a distinguished career at NASA as an electrical engineer. His dedication to his work was recognized with a Silver Snoopy award for his contributions to the Pool Boiling Experiment flown on Space Shuttle mission STS-72. Those who knew Michael will remember his deep pride in his career. In his personal life, Michael found great joy in his family, his myriad hobbies involving technology and design, and in tending to his garden. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his wife, Cecilia. Michael and Cecilia van Raders met in 2015 and were married on June 20, 2017, building a life filled with love, laughter and companionship.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Cecilia Brace; his siblings, Karen Plavcan (Greg) and Arthur Brace (Carmen Brun); his nephews, Kyle Plavcan and Justin Plavcan; as well as his extended Australian family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Patricia Brace. A private funeral service has been held, and Michael has been laid to rest beside his parents in Saybrook Cemetery.
