Mary Jane York, 87, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2021 in Jefferson, Ohio.
Mary Jane was born on June 13, 1934, in Dorset, Ohio, the daughter of Alex B. and Irene (Fink) Tenney.
Mary Jane graduated from Dorest High School and went on to marry the love of her life, Warren G. York on July 11, 1953. Together they shared sixty-one wonderful years of marriage before Warren’s passing on March 22, 2015. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Jefferson, Ohio.
Mary Jane owned and operated Jewel’s Dance Hall for 17 years before retiring in 1997. She had many hobbies and interest: she enjoyed attending auctions, going camping and playing bingo. One of Mary Jane’s true sources of happiness was dancing with her beloved husband.
Mary Jane is survived by her loving family, her children: Toby L. (Renei) York, Gary L. York and Bonita “Bonnie” (Buddy) Raikes; ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Warren G. York, her brothers, Donald and Wayne “Bob” Tenney and her son, Dale A. York.
The family will hold a “Celebration of Life” in May of 2022, a service announcement will be made once the date is finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Mary Jane’s name to the charity of your choice.
