Mary (DePriest) Butts

Mary Frances (DePriest) Butts, age 76, of Ashtabula, OH, passed away on December 5, 2022. 

She was born September 24, 1946, in Nashville, TN, the daughter of William and Frances (Lichinstein) DePriest. 

Mary met her future husband, Guy Butts, while working together for a traveling magazine sales company, where they traveled the U.S. together selling magazines door-to-door.  They married November 28, 1972.  Their children, Todd and Kim, were born in 1975 and 1978.  Guy and Mary were married for 45 years before he passed away from cancer in 2018.

Mary was a homemaker and also worked part-time at various places over the years including:  Hills Dept. Store, Covered Bridge Pizza, and The Lunch Box. 

Mary loved to sing and dance and make jokes.  She brightened many strangers’ day by giving compliments.  She greatly enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, Kyli and Kaci Butts.

Mary was a member of the Ashtabula Pentecostal Church of God, which she greatly enjoyed attending.  She had a deep connection with the church and its members, and found a lot of comfort in it. 

Mary was preceded in her death by her husband, Guy Butts, and her parents.

She is survived by her son, Todd (Kerri) Butts; daughter, Kim (Ryan) Hutchins; granddaughters, Kyli and Kaci Butts; brother Jerry DePriest; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be Saturday 10, 2022 at 1:00PM at the Pentecostal Church of God, 2201 Cook Rd, Ashtabula, Ohio with Rev. Kenneth Roberts Officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the church.
