Mary K. (Brown) Brenkus, 89, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2022 at the Jefferson Healthcare in Jefferson, Ohio.
Mary was born on April 1, 1932, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of William H. and Dorthea M. (Sisler) Brown.
Mary married the love of her life, Charles W. Brenkus on February 3, 1951, they shared nearly sixty-seven wonderful years of marriage together before his passing on January 4, 2018.
Mary was a Foster Parent who touched the lives of more than one hundred children that she welcomed into her home. She worked at the Ashtabula County Children’s Services for twenty years before her retirement.
Mary had many interests: she was a loyal soap opera fan and enjoyed watching, “The Young and the Restless” and “As the World Turns”. She enjoyed horses, attending horse sales, supporting the Cleveland Browns, going bowling and fishing. Mary enjoyed spending time in her kitchen cooking and baking for her family, especially the Sunday Spaghetti Dinner’s she held.
Mary is survived by her loving children: Kurt R. (Kim) Brenkus, Alisa K. (Jason) Stalnaker and Jenna A. Brenkus; her brother, Norman Brown, her grandchildren: Tyler (Tonya) Brenkus, Max, Sam (Marlee), Amber Hurst, Brittany (William) Applebee, Colleen (Joe) Hurst, Tanner Lee and Chloe Lee and her great-grandchildren: Tyler, Niko and Leia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorthea Brown, her beloved husband, Charles William Brenkus, her sons: Jeffrey and Timothy Brenkus, her grandson, Dustin Brenkus, her grand-daughter-in-law, Lisa Brenkus and her brother, Charles Brown.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 11:00a – 12:30p with a funeral service beginning at 12:30p at the Jefferson Home of Fleming and Billman Funeral Directors, 49 West Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio. A burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Oakdale Cemetery, 328 North Market Street in Jefferson.
Memorial contributions can be made to Ashtabula Co. Children's Services to help support children in foster care and the families that foster them.
