Marjorie Jean (Hinkle) McManus

Marjorie J. McManus, age 95 of Cortland, died Tuesday morning at the Jefferson Healthcare Center.

She was born March 1, 1925 in Dorset Twp., the daughter of John & Bernie (Hayes) Hinkle and lived in this area until 1963.  Marjorie then moved to California, returning to Southington, Warren and then Cortland in 1987.

Marjorie was a licensed beautician, working at many places over the years.  She is a member of the Southington United Methodist Church.  Her interests included crocheting and always enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Lou McManus of Ashtabula; a son, Michael (Ingrid) McManus in Arizona; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a brother, Fred (Doris) Hinkle & a sister-in-law, Pauline Price, both in Jefferson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis “Bud” McManus in 1996; a son, Mark McManus and her siblings, Cecil, Hallie, Callie, Cleo, Bonnie, Mae, Gladys, Bud & Andy.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Dorset Cemetery with Pastor Rich Meir of the Cherry Valley Church of the Nazarene.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Southington UMC, 4348 Smith Nelson Rd.
