Lois I. MacArthur, age 78, passed away on August 9, 2024, with family by her side.
She was born on May 17, 1946, in Ashtabula, OH to Howard & Frances (Karg) Burlingame.
She was married to her first husband James DiBell on August 24, 1963, and together they had two children Lorrie Peer (DiBell) and J Scott DiBell. She was then married to her second husband William Douglas MacArthur on August 31, 1974. Together they brought their child, Brandon Kirk, into the family. Lois lived a great life with Doug until his passing in November 1990.
She worked at Hills/Ames from 1989 until its closing in 2002, meeting cherished friends during her employment. A few short years later she retired. In the years since, she has enjoyed playing Words with Friends, catching up on her favorite shows, playing hours of cards, sitting on her porch and above all, spending time with family and friends. She absolutely loved being a grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Betty Burlingame and her siblings Phillip, Albert and Ronald Burlingame, as well as both husbands.
She is survived by her siblings Phyllis Woodworth, Bruce Burlingame, Dennis (Barb) Patterson and Michael (Jenny) Patterson; her children: Lorrie Peer, Scott DiBell & Brandon (Kelly) Kirk; her grandchildren: Rachel, Mike, Ryan, Courtney, Blake and Berkley and her great-grandchildren: Zachary, Jacob (Lydia, who was her favorite nurse), Aaden, Alijah and Zoey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 12p-4p at the Jefferson Fire Hall, 96 East Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio.
