Lois A. Hurst, age 83, longtime Dorset resident, died Wednesday afternoon at the Jefferson Healthcare Center.
She was born April 21, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of William & Wanda (Miller) Crawford and has been an area resident all of her life. Lois was a graduate of Dorset High School. She was an owner and operator of the Hurst Farms in Dorset.
She was active with the 4-H when her children were growing up and was a member of the Ashtabula Co. Farm Bureau. Her enjoyments included cooking, horses and doing work with plastic canvas.
Survivors include five children, William (Debi) Hurst of Dorset, Diann Hurst of Denmark Twp., James (Susan) Hurst of Hillard, Terri Hurst & David (Tracy) Hurst, both of Jefferson; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a niece, Ida Miller of Geneva.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Wanda and a brother and his wife, Charles & Betty Miller.
No services will be held at this time. Lois’s request was to be cremated and her ashes to be spread on the farm.
