Alfred “Larry” Wetherbee
JEFFERSON – Alfred Wetherbee, 83, passed away Thursday March 25, 2021 at home with his family by his side.
He was born on November 14, 1937 in Ashtabula the son of William and Nora (Swartz) Wetherbee.
Larry graduated from Edgewood Senior High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army National Guard.
On July 27, 1974 Larry married Barbara Norris; his loving and devoted wife of 46 years.
He worked for 20 years for the Ashtabula County Highway Department and then went on to work 15 years as the groundskeeper at the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds.
Larry was a 4H leader specializing in the Rabbits Group and was also a member of the Ashtabula Co. Rod and Gun Club. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his loving family that was so very dear to him; his wife Barbara; his children: David (Debra) Rhoads, Diane M. (Gary) Thompson and Dean Wetherbee and his step-daughter Donna (Ron) Slater; his grandchildren: Jesse Wetherbee, Christopher Thompson, Lauren Thompson, Justin (Izzy) Rhoads, Tyler Rhoads, Hunter Rhoads, Tiphanie Rhoads, Robin Rhoads, Elizabeth Rhoads, Cody Rhoads and Dawn Rhoads; his great-grandchildren: Beckett, Christiana and DeShawn; his brother Charles (Patti) Wetherbee and his loyal dog “Susie”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Donald Rhoads and 10 siblings.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday April 3, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at his home, 48 W. Beech Street, Jefferson, Ohio.
