Larry Litke Obituary

Larry Litke, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of his wife, son, daughter, and cousin. He was 68.

Born in Geneva, Illinois, to Donald Moran and Elaine (Kibler) Moran, Larry's life journey led him to Ohio, where he graduated from Geneva High School in 1974. He furthered his education at Lakeland Community College, earning an Associate's Degree in Industrial Engineering in 1989.

Larry's life was a testament to dedication and hard work. In his youth, he worked alongside his father at Gem Construction, drafting blueprints and building homes across Northeast Ohio. He spent 23 years as Director of Quality at Midwest Forge, followed by six years as Manager of Quality and Continuous Improvement at Grand River Rubber and Plastics, and concluded his professional career as a Quality Auditor at NNI. A respected leader in his field, Larry served as the 2019 chair member for ASQ, held a Certified Quality Auditor certification, and was a frequent presenter at ASQ conferences nationwide through his company Larry Litke Consulting.

Beyond his professional achievements, Larry was a man of deep faith and unwavering commitment to his family. He married the love of his life, Jean Litke, on September 1, 1979. Together, they built a life filled with love and devotion, raising their two children, Adam Litke and Stephanie Litke-Avery. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Zane and Blake, sons of Adam and Tabitha Litke, and dearly loved his daughters-in-law, Tabitha Litke and Katie Litke-Avery.

Larry was a longtime and deeply involved member of the Church of the Brethren in Painesville, Ohio. He served as a board member, usher, worship leader, and Sunday School teacher for both youth and adults. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him.

He was a pillar of his community, serving as a Cub Scout leader, Boy Scout troop master, Little League coach, and Chairman of the Morgan Township zoning committee. He was also a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and shooting competitions. He held a Federal Firearms License since 1985 and was the owner of Larry's Gun Shop, a legacy now continued by his son as Trigger Press Firearms. His other passions included model trains, bowling, darts, scuba diving, and cheering on the Cleveland Indians and Browns. He was also an avid sports card collector. Larry was also a member and  Secretary of ORCO, a local gun club in Geneva, Ohio.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Donald Moran, his beloved step-father, Walt Litke, and his step-sisters, Jan (Litke) Brunson and Pat Roering Macy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean; his children, Adam (Tabitha) Litke and Stephanie (Katie) Litke-Avery; his grandchildren, Zane and Blake Litke; his mother, Elaine (Litke) Garbutt; and his sister, Deborah Boehm, and many nieces and nephews.
