LaVaughn Alice (Lewis) Bloom, born in 1931 passed Sunday 8/15/2021 with her family at her bedside.
She was the daughter of Russel and Evelyn Lewis. She was one of four daughters, known as the Lewis girls. She started out at a Bruce School, which was a one room school house in Plymouth went to Plymouth Elementary when they built and opened, where her children also attended. A graduate of Ashtabula High school, she was a 49er.
She started working at the Farmers National Bank and married John Bloom. Together they had four children, built their home and beautiful pond. They loved the outdoors, camping and especially their fishing trips to Canada, canning from the orchard and garden. She enjoyed golf and bowling, especially with the Grotto leagues. She was very devoted with her time as a Grottoette.
She worked for Ashtabula schools in the cafeteria for 30 years. After being married for 29 years, her husband John passed suddenly. She also started working at Sheldon Calvary Camp, cooking for many years. When she retired, she started dating her companion, Tom Luce. Together they were snowbirds, in the winter and enjoyed traveling.
The last few years she has battled Alzheimer’s, her children as her caretakers til the last couple of months.
She is survived by her children; Vickie Lee, Julie (Jim) Aldrich, Jim (Tracy) Bloom, Janice (Richard) Patterson, Grandsons, Adam, Jeremy, Joshua, John, Wade and Troy. Great grandsons Matthew and Tyler. Extended Grandkids Christy, A.J. and Adam and families. Sister Ida Mae Rogers, companion Tom Luce. And several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband John Bloom, her parents, sisters Trudy Hanhilammi and Rheta Phillips. Her grandson Brandon Lee and his father Cheong Lee.
