ASHTABULA - Kenneth Russell Armstrong, 82, passed away on May 29, 2025, in his home, surrounded by the love of his family who were there by his side.
He was born in Ashtabula on February 20, 1943, the son of Edward and Lillian (Burchfield) Armstrong.
Ken graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1962.
On June 1, 1963, Ken married Shirley May. The two shared nearly 60 years of marriage filled with devotion, partnership, and love. Together, they built a wonderful life, a family, three businesses, and memories to last a lifetime.
Ken worked for Ashtabula Bow Socket, Country Club Retirement Campus until he and Shirley founded Shirley’s Print Shoppe, Northeast Carpet Cleaners and Janitorial Services as well as KD Gifts. It was an enjoyable and rewarding labor of love to have had the time to own their family run businesses. He was an active member of the Ashtabula Elks Lodge #208 and a past Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce member.
Ken could fix anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He treated his customers like family and would always go above and beyond for them. He enjoyed visiting casinos and deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also cherished the companionship of his dogs, Bear and Lady.
He is survived by his loving family; his children: Kenneth (Susan) Armstrong of Hockley, Texas, Dennis (Elizabeth) Armstrong of Ashtabula, and Trina LaBaw of Minneola, Florida; grandchildren: Kenneth (Jessica) Armstrong, Stephinie Armstrong, Matthew (Lori) Armstrong, Kristen Armstrong, Ryan LaBaw, and Paige LaBaw; six great-grandchildren: Emme, Kaylee Jo, Parker, Madeline, Ian and Joellen; and siblings: Jack (Jennie) Armstrong, Joanne Bressler, and Jerry (Diane) Armstrong.
