Kellie K. McGinnis, 56, passed away November 8, 2025, at UH Geauga Medical Center following a second battle with breast cancer.
She was born on January 18, 1969, in Willoughby, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Janice (Meyer) Kruk.
Kellie graduated from Pymatuning Valley High School in 1987 and later went on to Lakeland College where she received her degree in nursing.
On September 15, 1990, she married Sean Patrick McGinnis; together they were blessed with a marriage filled with love, friendship, happiness, and family.
Kellie was a registered nurse, working most of her career with University Hospital’s Healthcare System, mainly at Conneaut and Geneva Medical Centers. Most recently she worked as a community outreach nurse, spending much of her time with seniors and high school students educating them about healthy living and life skills. She was the Chairperson for the last UH “Walk for the Cure” that University Hospitals sponsored. As a breast cancer survivor herself she was very passionate about supporting those going through the same things that she had in 2016 and recently was going through herself again.
Kellie had many interests in life and things that she enjoyed that made her life so very fulfilled. She loved lighthouses, and just this past month her family took her on a trip back to Maine to see the vast number of lighthouses there. Her other interests included candles, her aero-gardens, turtles, her coffee cup collection, essential oils and crystals, and she may have been Rod Stewart’s number one fan. She loved stories and history about ghost adventures, and she even took trips to Salem to learn about the history of witches and witchcraft. She enjoyed camping with the family and spending time lounging around the pool at home. She loved her dog, Max and her cat Charlie, but for Kellie, her life revolved around the love and commitment she had to her family. Like most nurses she was the most phenomenal mom, offering unconditional love and support to her three kids. And just 4 months ago she was blessed with her first grandchild; a little girl she absolutely adored.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband of 35 years, Sean McGinnis; her children Ryan (Marlena Noland) McGinnis, Alex McGinnis and Morgan McGinnis; her granddaughter Mavis McGinnis; her brother Chuck Wiseman and her brother-in-law Richard Edelman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Zachary in infancy, her sister Debbie Edelman and her brother Robert Wiseman, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 49 W. Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio. Calling hours will be Friday evening at the funeral home from 4:00-7:00; funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 at the funeral home with Dawn Dale, RN, ordained minister and dear friend leading the services.
