Kathleen Ann Tackett
ASHTABULA – Kathleen Ann Tackett, 71, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at University Hospital Cleveland after a long illness, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on February 10, 1954, in Ashtabula, she was the beloved daughter of Ruth (Oliver) Stitt. Kathy was a proud member of Ashtabula High School’s Class of 1972 and later became a dedicated state-licensed nurse’s aide. She devoted much of her career to caring for others at McDowell Hospital in McDowell, Kentucky, where her compassion and gentle heart touched many lives.
On November 6, 1989, Kathy married the love of her life, Edgar Tackett. Together they shared 27 wonderful years filled with laughter, devotion, and family until his passing in 2016.
Above all else, Kathy was a devoted mother and grandmother whose family meant everything to her. Her love knew no bounds—she was always there with open arms, wise words, and the kind of unconditional support that made everyone around her feel deeply cherished. She delighted in cooking for her loved ones, creating meals that brought everyone to the table and filled their hearts as much as their plates. Her kindness, warmth, and willingness to help others—especially her children—made every day a little brighter.
Kathy’s legacy of love continues through her children: Clayton (Carol) Hamilton, Ruth Ann Parks, and Edgar Tackett; her cherished grandchildren: Hannah Hamilton, Autumn Parks, Kayla (Will) Sullivan, and Kylee Hamilton; and her siblings: Ronald (Louise) Stitt, Jerry (Pat) Stitt, John (Debbie) Stitt, Thomas Stitt, Cindy (Jim) Candela, Debbie (Ron) Colon, Margaret Kellogg, and Nancy (Shane) Stitt.
She is reunited in Heaven with her mother, Ruth Stitt; her husband, Edgar Tackett; and her brothers, Roger and David Stitt.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, where a short prayer service will close the evening. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, 7 Clinic Drive, Martin, Kentucky, beginning at 12:00 p.m. (calling hours from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.), with burial to follow at Newman Cemetery in Hi-Hat, Kentucky.
Kathy’s heart was filled with love and service—for her family, her friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Her memory will forever be a source of warmth, strength, and inspiration to those she leaves behind
