Judith Selzer Obituary

Judith Andrea Selzer, 81, passed away on December 22, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.

Born on May 17, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, Judith was the daughter of James and Ruth (Amtsberg) Alferink. On October 28, 1961, she married her one true love, Robert M. Selzer, and together they shared 64 years of a devoted marriage filled with love, friendship, and unwavering support for one another.

Judy’s greatest joy and proudest role in life was being “mom” and “grandma.” Her world revolved around her children and grandchildren, and she devoted her life to their happiness, education, and well-being. She was their fiercest supporter—always encouraging hard work, celebrating their accomplishments, and offering gentle guidance, a listening ear, and unconditional love.

She was equally proud that all of her children earned their college degrees, a reflection of the values of perseverance and learning that she lovingly instilled in them. Her home was a place of warmth, where her family knew they were treasured beyond measure and where holidays, everyday visits, and simple conversations became cherished memories.

Beyond her family, Judy was an accomplished and dedicated professional. She earned her degree in accounting from Kent State University and went on to serve for many years as clerk and treasurer in Jefferson, later owning and operating her own tack shop.

Judy’s quiet moments were often spent with a good book in hand—she especially loved romance novels—or enjoying a favorite movie. She was also a devout Christian, whose faith guided her life and the kindness, patience, and compassion she showed to others.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her children: Robert (Kathy) Selzer, Brian (Joyce) Selzer, Lynn Selzer, Susan Selzer, Mark (Adam) Selzer, and Lisa (Larry) Bagley; and her grandchildren: Rachael, Carrie, James, Erin, Michael, Analisa, Elena, Andrea, and Gwen. She is also survived by her brother, Raymond (Lynn) Alferink. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald Alferink.

Funeral services will be held at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 49 West Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio. Calling hours will be Friday, January 2, from 4:00–6:00 p.m., with the funeral service on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Jefferson, Ohio.

Those who knew Judy will remember her most for her gentle heart, her generous spirit, and the endless love she poured into her family—a legacy that will live on in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
