Juana Oquendo Obituary

Juana D. Oquendo, age 81, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in West Palm Beach, Florida.

She was born on March 29,1945 in Guayama, Puerto Rico. She lived in Ashtabula, OH for many years and spent the last 16 years of her life as a Florida resident where she soaked up the sun and basked in her beloved palm trees.

She was a beacon of kindness and compassion. Her warm and caring heart touched many lives as she dedicated over 30 years of her life working for the county and founded a program to support those in need. Prior to this, she worked as a cosmetologist and loved assisting others in discovering their own beauty.

Juana’s vibrant personality, infectious charisma, and silly sense of humor will forever be cherished. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She found joy in hosting loved ones at her home, where music, dancing, and laughter were always on the menu. She loved butterflies, flowers, elephants, and going to the casino and “arcades” with her friends. She could always be found “done up” with her nails painted and lipstick perfectly applied. Her radiant smile could light up any room, and she faced challenges with an optimistic attitude. A devoted woman of faith, she embraced life with an adventurous spirit, living each day to the fullest. She will be greatly missed but forever remembered.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa (Joseph) Morales, son, Martin “Marty” (Elizabeth) Oquendo, sisters; Hilda (Francisco “Frankie”) Nater, Dora Higgins, grandchildren Jasmine (Jess) Morales, Shenice (Brandon) Morales, Julianna Morales, Baretta Morales, Abra Oquendo, Aja Kalil, Adrianna Oquendo, Martin Oquendo; great-grandchildren Jionni Morales, Nalani Oquendo, and Elijah Ramey; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her life partner, Florencio Santiago, parents, aunt, brother, Felix Ramos and sister, Luisa Santiago, son-in-law, Alberto “Baretta” Morales, and other beloved family members.
