Joyce Eileen Ketola, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on August 20, 2025.
She was born on February 15, 1942, the beloved daughter of John and May (Richmond) Ketola.
Joyce graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960 and went on to earn her Master's degree from Olivet Nazarene University.
She dedicated her life to education, serving as a teacher at Mentor Public Schools for 32 years, as well as teaching at Jefferson Christian School. A devoted member of Jefferson Nazarene Church, Joyce was especially passionate about working with children through the church’s Bible Quizzing program. She loved gardening, reading, and sharing her deep faith and wisdom with others. Teaching was not just her profession—it was her calling.
Joyce is survived by her loving nieces and nephews: Sharon Justis, Rebecca Johnson, Tim Williams, David Williams, Ryan Ketola, Renee Johnson, John Ketola, and Joshua Ketola.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John O. Ketola, and her sister Beverly (Ralph) Williams.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fleming & Billman Funeral Home, 49 West Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio, with a funeral service to follow. Joyce will be laid to rest at Dorset Cemetery immediately following the service.
