John William Welker

John William Welker, age 57, passed away at his home June 3, 2020. He was born February 7, 1963 in Geneva the son of John and Helen Welker. A lifelong resident of Harpersfield Township, John was a 1981 graduate of Geneva High School.

Raised on the family farm and adjacent business, Welker Farm Equipment, Inc. he developed an innate mechanical ability. John began working “at the shop” as a youngster. After his parent’s retirement, he owned and successfully operated the business with his sister and brother-in-law until retiring in late 2019. They were the third generation of Welker’s to serve the public for over 80 years.

John enjoyed hunting, camping and the outdoors. He was happiest in the wood deer hunting. In addition to maintaining the family farm and vineyard, John was an avid gardener. He pursued gambling, won a new Jeep Wrangler Willy’s Edition and many jackpots over the years.

John is survived by his sister, Deborah and brother-in-law, Robert Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents.

No calling hours were observed. A private memorial for the immediate family was held.
