NORTH KINGSVILLE-John L. Hruska, 82, passed away December 30, 2024 at The Lantern of Madison, following a long illness.
He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on May 6, 1942 the son of Albert and Ruby (Hanson) Hruska.
He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960 and went on to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. On November 6, 1965, he married Connie L. Miller at Prospect Presbyterian Church. In 1963 John started his 44 year career at Pinney (Kinder Morgan) Dock and Transport Company. He finally retired in 2007.
John was a very active member of the community. He was a member of the Ashtabula Chamber of Commerce, Ashtabula County Builders Association (Board of Directors), Ashtabula Exchange Club (Past President), Ashtabula B.P.O.E. #208 (Lifetime Member), Ashtabula Country Club, Ashtabula County Choral Society (Advisory Board Member), Men of Praise (Past President) Ashtabula Town Choir (Past President) Cross Country Shoreliners Barbershop Group, Green Door Follies, Straw Hat Theater, The Coin Clubs (Ashtabula, Conneaut, Painesville and Madison). He was also a very proud and active member of the First United Methodist Church (Past President of Parish Committee, Past President of the Administration Board and Past President of the Choir).
He is survived by his beloved children: Rad Hruska of California and Rene Hruska of Mentor; as well as his brother Rodney.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter Makenna Hruska in 2024.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 4506 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
