John Bradek Obituary

John Joseph Bradek, age 71, passed away at home on Thursday morning, January 25, 2024, following a two year battle with cancer.

He was born Janez Garantini, April 2, 1952, in Vace, Slovenia, to Franc and Marija (Kokaly) Garantini.  He and his twin sister were adopted in Cleveland, in 1958, by Joseph and Agnes (Klemencic) Bradek.

He was a graduate of Mentor High School.  He retired from Ashta Chemicals after 36 years.

He moved to Jefferson in 1973, and started a small farm.  In 2003 he moved to a larger farm, where his love of farming continued and grew.  He enjoyed wine and sausage making, gardening, cooking, and helping out anyone who needed it.  He loved to travel to Slovenia to spend time with his family.  He was full of love, hope, and dreams for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

John is survived by his children: Christopher (Marie), Laura (Jason), and Matthew; his grandchildren: Felipe (Morghan), Karrie (Jeremy), Alicia (Hank), Lindsay, Henry, and Maxwell; and his great-grandchildren: Easton, Rebel, Kingsley, and Everly.  He is also survived by his brothers Franc and Joze, sisters Verona Vrtacnik and his twin, Francis Bradek, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins both in Slovenia and in the United States.

He was preceded in death by all of his parents and a sister, Marjeta.

At John's request, there will be no services held.  John's ashes will be taken back to Vace, Slovinia by his family this year.  A celebration of life is being planned for later this year.
