Joel N. Shreve

Joel N. Shreve, Sr., 74, passed away peacefully on April 11th, 2023, at his home in New Lyme Township.

He was born on May 9th, 1948, in Wayne, Ohio, the son of Paul and Betty (Lake) Shreve.

On April 6th, 1970, Joel married the love of his life, Betty Lou Bright; together they recently celebrated their fifty-third wedding anniversary.

Joel worked as a Laborer for the Local 245 Laborer’s Union; he was a hard-working, dedicated member of the union.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending antique car shows and small engine repair.  Joel was well known for his great sense of humor; he was always telling a joke with one goal in mind and that was to make people laugh and put a smile on their face.

Joel is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Lou; his loving children: Jo Ann Shreve (Darrin Griffin), Joel (Samantha) Shreve, Jr., Christina (Gary) Church, Lisa (Drew) Thompson and Anthony Shreve; his fifteen grandchildren; his nine great-grandchildren and his brother, Bob (Pat) Shreve.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul (Rosalie) Shreve and Betty (Lake) Shreve; his siblings: David Shreve, Andy Lake, Jim Shreve and Sandy Dunford.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17th, 2023, from 10:00a-11:00a with a funeral service to follow at 11:00a at Fleming and Billman Funeral Home, 49 West Jefferson Street in Jefferson, Ohio. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Brownville Cemetery in New Lyme, Ohio.
