Joanna B. (Propst) Knight

JEFFERSON - Joanna B. Knight, 97, is no longer walking "5 Mile" for her daily exercise, she passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, and went on to her heavenly home.

She was born on October 5, 1928, in Philippi, WV the daughter of Daniel and Florence (Jenkins) Propst.

Joanna lived a blessed and yet an adventurous life. She lived her life one day at a time, like every day was Christmas; truly as if that day was a gift.  And, if you want to do something for someone or if you needed to say something to someone, do it!  Because today was "Christmas" its a gift from God and tomorrow is not ever promised. Joanna was blessed to have had 6 children, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren; as well as her abundant faith in God.  She enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, dancing, gambling and was an avid crocheter as well. She will be missed by family and friends, and especially her dog "5 Mile".

She is survived by her loving family; her children: Sandra Carpenter, Pamela Buchanan, Charles Goodman, Elissa Basso, and Denise (Doug) Knight-Leister; her 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great grandchildren; her brother, Everett Propst; and her sisters: Oleta Bergman and LeEllen D’Anselmi

She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Robert T. Knight; her son Ronald DeBarr; her son-in-law’s: Joseph Basso, Roger Carpenter and Eddie Buchanan; and 10 siblings

She was laid to rest on Monday May 11, 2026, at a private family graveside service at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
