Janice Centa, 73, passed away peacefully on June 15th, 2023, at her home in Doylestown, Ohio following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was born on November 1st, 1949, in Barberton, Ohio, the daughter of Clyde F. and Winifred (Longaberger) Frase.
Janice was a reporter for the Daily Record for twenty-six years and a police dispatcher for the city of Rittman for twenty-two years. She was an award winning writer and had the pleasure of interviewing Tom Hanks.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, painting and drawing. Her greatest source of joy and happiness was spending time with her family, especially her dear grandson, Jack with whom she loved playing Minecraft and Roblox with.
She is survived by her loving children: Stacy Centa, Christian “Toby” Centa and Clayton (Sarah) Centa; her grandson, Jack Centa; her brother, David Frase; her niece, Kim Hopper; her nephew, Rob; her great niece, Emily; her great nephew, Jonathan and her great-great niece, Amelia.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Peggy Hopper and her daughter-in-law, Heidi Centa.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 8th from 1:00p-3:00p at the Rusty Railz, 2972 N. Division Street, Clinton, Ohio, 44216.
