Jana S. Hamrick, 66, passed away on March 18, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jana was a graduate of Kent State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business. She worked for the United States Postal Service for several years, spent seven years as a casino dealer, and dedicated 15 years to tax preparation, ultimately serving as a manager at H&R Block.
On January 20, 2004, she married David Schmidt. Together, they enjoyed camping and fishing. Jana had a passion for gardening and took great pride in caring for her flower beds. Above all, she loved taking care of her family.
She is survived by her sons: Jason (Nicole) Schmidt, Gregory O’Brien, and Robert (Summer) Cain; her grandchildren: Seamus, Inola, Peyton, Alice, Gregory Jr., Hunter, Rachel, and David; and her siblings, Cindy Hamrick and Steven Hamrick.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Schmidt; and her father, Gary Hamrick, whom she lovingly cared for over eight years until his passing in October 2025.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at Fleming & Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula.
